Engine already live

⚙ Runs on the Energy engine — signed generation/consumption ledger, :5940.

Off-grid power from the things this land already has: falling water, summer sun, and wood. Metered on the Energy engine.

A stack, not a silver bullet

No single source carries an off-grid Kootenay winter. The plan is a complementary stack whose pieces peak at different times: micro-hydro (strongest in the spring melt and through the wet months), solar (strongest in summer, weakest in deep winter), and wood — which this land grows — for heat and as a backstop. Hydro and solar are seasonally anti-correlated, which is exactly what you want.

Already metered

The Energy engine already exists in the Soteria stack (signed generation and consumption ledger). The commons micro-grid plugs into it: every kWh the creek or the sun produces, and every kWh a home draws, is measured and accountable — the basis for fair sharing and for sizing the next addition.

Explore the two big options

Each deserves its own full look — the engineering is different and so are the questions:

Plan the commons' power

Declare what your home will draw, and the commons sizes its micro-hydro and solar to match.
